Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
