A 60-day cruise through the Land Down Under was terminated days after the fatal incident of an older female passenger who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been trekking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a pause. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the ship staff discovered the passenger was missing.

A large-scale search operation discovered her person the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are examining the event, together with police and the official investigator.

Head of the voyage organizer stated that guests and staff on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he added that guests would be provided a full refund, and said the operator was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also released an revised statement, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Commander" banning any further travelers from entering the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the ship in the port city upon its coming back.

In her statement, she described her parent as an "energetic elderly person" who was a member of a hiking club.

"According to scant details we have been informed, it seems that there was a failure of attention and common sense," she said.

She added that she hoped the investigation would be able to identify what "the operator should have done that might have protected Mother's life".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a exceptionally warm period, and mum became unwell on the hill climb," she revealed.

"They requested her to return, without accompaniment. Then the ship left, reportedly without conducting a headcount.

"At a certain moment in that sequence, or shortly after, mum succumbed, by herself."

Via official communication, the Head confirmed that the operator was "collaborating extensively with officials to aid their investigation".

He said that the firm was "extremely apologetic that this has occurred" and had provided its full support to the loved ones.

The liner accommodates up to 120 travelers with 46 personnel, according to official data. It was purpose-built to enter distant areas of Australia's coast and is fitted with "auxiliary vessels" - small boats used to take travelers on land visits.

Incidents like this are uncommon, and passenger vessels have protocols to track which travelers are boarding or getting off, according to travel authorities.

"Leaving covertly or [back] aboard simply isn't an possibility," a specialist stated.

Vessel operators take these methods with great importance and have "clever tech in place to avoid such events from happening," the specialist added.
